23 Lessons I've Learned this Year
While 22, I graduated from college, moved back home, landed my first job, moved to New York and into my own studio apartment, attended New York Fashion Week, switched jobs, relaunched my blog and learned more than I could ever imagine. Although it was an amazing year, it was far from an easy one. It’s insane to look back at how incredibly different life was only a year ago.
So, today I’m not only celebrating a birthday but growth, opportunity and perseverance. Here’s 23 lessons I’ve learned in my 23 years.
Limiting yourself is the biggest mistake you can make.
But it’s okay to make mistakes.
Figure out what makes you unique and own it.
There’s no shame in being confident in yourself.
Be friendly, radiate positivity and meet as many new people as possible.
Don’t waste your energy. It’s too valuable.
Never say no to free food.
It’s a waste of time to try to be someone you’re not.
It’s a small world. Be mindful of yourself and others.
You’ll never know if you don’t try.
You can’t force friendship.
Hold onto those who stand by you. They’re rare.
Never feel guilty about treating yourself when you’ve really earned it.
Don’t be so hard on yourself.
It’s okay to be different.
Take time for introspection.
Life is long, but life moves quickly.
The right outfit can make or break your day.
Push yourself like you’re not afraid of failure.
First impressions matter more than you think.
There’s no shame in working hard. There’s also no shame in taking a break too.
Never stop learning.
